phase 1 destruction
Before any good job can be completed something must get broke, or destroyed. I think that’s a law of boat maintenance. I had fun this weekend doing more destruction on the boat. I had a plan on how to get the water seperator (gensep) into the nav station. Remove an added on wall from the back. Well that didn’t work. That extra part was put on very well. It’s marine plywood that has a tounge in groove joint of 1/2 inch that is glued. That is NOT coming apart without more destruction than I was planning. I found another wall that had the drawers in it that I could remove. Since I will have to make the drawers a little smaller due to the water lift muffler size I will have to replace that board anyway. Perfect.
I also removed quite a bit of the fresh water hose that had repairs every few inches. I decided to just remove it all and replace most of it with PVC pipe with hose where I need to make flexible connections only. PVC should last longer than hose. So I am going ahead and removing more and more hose. It’s amazing how much water hose there is in a 50 foot boat. I have some ways to reduce the number of water runs and the complexity of the setup.
Things are starting to happen on sv Doric. More to come soon!
